Iowa State Hires Auburn Tiger Football Defensive Coordinator

Well, for all you who thought Gene Chizik was a bad choice for Auburn Football coach, what do you think about Iowa State. I mean, they literally cried a river when Gene Chizik left.

Now, they feel a little better because they hired Auburn Football's Defensive Coordinator Paul Rhoads. Hey, I wonder if he is any relation to Dusty Rhoads? :)

Whenever another school is so hard up to get your talented coaches, it goes to show that the people at the top of the organization know what they're doing. Somehow, the drunken fans that have been talking smack about Gene Chizik and Auburn Football don't understand that. And why should they. Most are even students of Auburn and if they are, chances are they're on their way out due to their inability to stay sober and to make it to class. This is why those at the top don't let those at the bottom make the hiring and firing decisions!

I think Paul will do a good job at Iowa State. It will be interesting to see where he will get his talent (or the lack of) in and around Iowa. That's been Iowa State's problem for many, many years. The better talent goes to the bigger schools.

But hey, even if Paul Rhoads doesn't have a winning season, he'll be comforted by the 1 million plus per year that Iowa State is giving him. Plus there are bonuses!

Since When Does Charles Barkley Know Auburn Football?

You know it had to happen sooner than later. Of course, we should have guessed that it would have been a blow hard like Charles Barkley to bring it up. According to Sir Charles, Auburn hired Gene Chizik instead of the Buffalo Bulls (Buffalo who?) head coach Turner Gil because of race. Yep, you heard it right. If Gene Chizik had been black, Auburn would not have hired him!

Since Charles Barkley is pretty much King of spouting off about things he has no real knowledge of, I thought I would compare the two head coaches. In fact, Charles had such an episode of Diareah of the Mouth, he said that Coach Chizik had the worse resume of anyone that Auburn University interviewed for the head football coaching job. Oh Charles, you're a freakin' walking source of knowledge about college football!

Now, from what I understand, Charles Barkley and a few others in Auburn and around the State of Alabama are upset that Auburn hired a coach that had a losing record in a place called Iowa State (Iowa where?).

But according to an all knowing Charles Barkley, they should have hired a coach who 7-17 his first two seasons at some school noone's heard of. At least a few people have heard of Iowa State!

I puzzled, isn't a losing record a losing record? Do the two additional wins that Turner Gil has on his record really qualify him over Chizik? Me thinks not!

Also, I'd sure take Gene Chizik's coaching career up to the point he started with Iowa State over Turner Gil's. Turner Gil never coached at the level in his college coaching career that Gene did. Yet, to hear Charles "Everything that is wrong in the World is because they didn't hire a black coach" Barkley, Gil's has a much better resume. How he comes to that conclusion only the little people inside Charle's head knows.

I know, I bet it was the year that Turner Gil spent in Green Bay helping Pro Football players get acclimated to playing in Green Bay that gives him the edge over Coach Chizik in Charles opinion.

No, Auburn could have hired anyone for that job and it would have been the wrong decision if he wasn't black according to Charles' thought process. Apparently, if Charles Barkley is doing the hiring, the only qualification that matters is that you're black. Forget about experience. It's all about the skin color for Charles Barkley and others like him.

Why Gene Chizik Is A Good Choice As Auburns Football Coach

Okay, so you have a few people around Auburn who weren't happy with Gene Chizik being chosen as their new football coach. Truth is, they wouldn't have been happy with Bob Stoops! They are the kind of people who don't know what they want, they just think they know what they don't want.

Gene Chizik is a good choice for Auburn's Football Coach and here's why.

He got a lot of bad press at Iowa State. But few ever took the time to really look into why he was 5 and 19. The facts are he has a history of winning in college football. Every place from Middle Tennessee to Stephen F Austin to the winning season in 2004 here at Auburn University, Gene Chizik is a winner.

If Auburn doesn't hamstring Chizik the way Iowa State does, and there is no reason to think that it will, Gene Chizik will be a winner here again. Also, he has a better pool of recruits down here than he did at Iowa State. This will help greatly. I don't care how good you are, if your recruiting pool is substandard, your efforts aren't going to be top notch.

The people that are naysayers now will be the first ones to be singing his praises when he starts winning. Happens every time.

There's also something else here that Gene Chizik brings to Auburn Football everything that Tommy Tuberville did plus a lot more. Gene Chizik can also beat Alabama and Nick Saban. Yeah, I'm going to treasure that moment as will all Auburn football fans.
